Cam Brown

- St. Louis, MO
- Biography
Cam hails from a musical family out of Toronto, Canada. His Father was a dixieland/swing drummer and his mother was a pianist and ballet instructor. Growing up with two brothers, one who plays piano professionally, and a brother who shreds the metal guitar, Cam had no choice but to pick an instrument and join in. He chose the piano, and he's been playing ever since.
Cam started his classical studies at Toronto's Royal Academy of Music. After completing 10 years of classical music instruction, he decided to forget what he had learned and, with the help of his brother, Cam really began learning blues and rock and roll. He quickly began performing regularly in the Toronto bar scene with other local players. Cam was also involved in two original projects: Zou Zou - a jazz/funk/pop band, which won a songwriting contest at one of Toronto's top radio stations, and Still Life - a world music band that received national airplay and video rotation.
Cam filled his spare time as Musical Director for such musical theater productions as The Fantastiks and Hair at various summer theaters. The ambition to learn every musical style eventually led Cam to attend York University, where he majored in percussion and studied avante-gard classical, after which he attended Humber College, where he concentrated on Jazz and performance.
Then the ships came calling. Primarily with Carnival Cruise Lines, Cam played in the show band and the piano bar, getting the opportunity to travel the world and perform with such celebrities as Kathy Lee Gifford, Regis Philbin, Marvin Hamlisch and John Davidson....that's right...John Davidson.
Eventually settling down in St. Louis, Cam auditioned at The Big Bang and has been performing there for the last two years. Cam brings his unique and versatile style to the stage every night with a broad repertoire of material as well as a real passion for just playing great music.

- Biography
Mike Clement began playing piano at the age of 6 and has continued to do so for the past 30 years. After moving from Miami, FL to Virginia to Washington, D.C., he finally settled in St. Louis, MO. where he began working the St. Louis scene for the next 5 years before he got hired by the Big Bang in April, 2002. In late 2003, the Big Bang expanded west to Tempe, AZ., and Mike went with them. He has been playing the hits ever since.
Clement has also established his original project called The Final, and they can be seen playing around the Phoenix area with a mix of funk, rock and jam. The Final's debut CD will be available this spring. For more info go to thefinalband.com.
Mike's primary influences include Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, Herbie Hancock, Phish, Earth, Wind and Fire, Prince, and the entire hair metal scene of the 80's, to name a few. After taking classical lessons for 7 years, Clement found it was easier and way more fun to learn the songs he liked by ear, so he quit piano lessons at age 14 and started developing his ear and improvisational skills. Mike has played in every type of band, from the country band Silverado in Michigan, to the improvisational St. Louis bands like Vitamen A and Diggler's Lounge, to playing raves with DJ Katscan, and recording tracks for countless bands and artists, which helps to make Mike one of the most versatile entertainers of the Big Bang.

Mike Manson

- St. Louis, MO
- Biography
It was 1982 and Mike's mom took him to see Billy Joel in concert at the Checkerdome in St. Louis, Missouri. Mike was seven years old then and has loved Billy Joel ever since. That was the groundbreaking moment that ultimately brought Mike to where he is now...playing music by Joel (not to mention McCartney, Elton, Prince and on and on) night after night with real heartfelt enthusiasm and passion.
Mike's educational background was actually not in music, but rather in Marketing and Political Science, graduating in 1996 from the University of Missouri / St. Louis with degrees in both those fields. However, Mike found his opening into the world of professional entertainment in the summer of 2002 when he first visited The Big Bang as a patron, and was encouraged by his friends to audition for a job there. It didn't take long before Mike became one of the most beloved entertainers in the St. Louis club. It also didn't take long before Mike gave up the 9-5 Marketing job.
Mike is now the Entertainment Director of The Big Bang St. Louis, and he regularly admits that he doesn't miss his old daytime gig one bit.

Ben Murphy

- Tempe, AZ
- Biography
Ben grew up in the Midwestern states of Indiana and Illinois. He and his family moved to Arizona in the high school years. His parents had a lot to do with him getting involved in music at an early age. Ben's dad played the piano and guitar (the same four songs over and over!) and quickly showed him the ropes. He started playing piano at age 9 and then guitar at 12. Mom and Dad were always taking Ben to concerts, musicals and anything they could find to peak his interest in the arts. Luckily they listened to good music-Billy Joel, Elton John; dad was a big Steely Dan fan. Ben learned Piano Man at age 10 from dad's vinyl records-that's right vinyl!! He had to run back and forth from the record player to the piano about a 100 times to learn the solo. He sure could have used a CD player... Oh yeah, CDs weren't around yet! Ben studied piano at Indiana University for about two years. He then found that playing in a rock n' roll band seemed like more fun and then left IU and moved to Chicago. There he honed his skills as a performer and rock piano player. After a couple years in the band the usual rock n' roll thing happened-the band broke up and Ben moved home to Arizona where his family currently resides. He started working at the Big Bang in late 2006 and has loved it ever since. His biggest musical influences are The Beatles and Frank Zappa. Ben also has a great affinity for sports! Being from South Bend, IN he started going to Notre Dame football games at about age 5 and has since become a crazed ND fan that yells at the TV like an old man when they play! Although they haven't had success in over 100 years, Ben is also a big Chicago Cubs fan. He and Mikey C argue like a couple of chicks when they're playing the Cardinals throughout the season. Come to Tempe and watch the fireworks on stage!

Danny Smith

- Nashville, TN
- Biography
Danny, grew up in Atlanta, GA and has played piano by ear since the age of three. As he grew older and wiser, Danny began picking up any instrument that seemed to get the chicks - and also trombone. After struggling for 4 months as a chin model, Danny decided to accept his mandible malformities and try his luck with a band. They agreed to play only instruments that got the chicks and hit the road. The band moved to Austin, Texas and after a couple of anti-climactic record deals, broke up over an argument about who stole Danny's eyeliner. The next day the drummer had pink-eye - just like Danny. Uh-huh...
Danny got started in the dueling piano scene on Sixth Street in Austin, and went on to perform in clubs in Dallas, San Antonio and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He never had to worry about anyone stealing his eyeliner ever again. In early 2007 Danny moved to Nashville, Tennessee to help open The Big Bang where he continues to perform nightly. Danny aspires to musical greatness by actively pursuing his most passionate goal: to learn "Don't Stop Believing" in a minimum of seven different languages while petitioning it's publishing company to rename the song "Just a Small Town Girl".
As a gifted writer, Danny fronts an original band, Ameritrash which can be found on Myspace. Ameritrash CD's are on sale with a free high five with every purchase. For more info, check out www.ameritrash.net.
